It appears that South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs have not yet given up on the Tanzanian market, particularly with their focus on players from Simba SC. After failing to sign Kibu Denis and Jean Charles Ahoua, reports indicate that they have now turned their attention to Wekundu wa Msimbazi’s striker, Steven Mukwala.
Mukwala, who has been in top form this season, scored the only goal that gave Simba victory over Singida Black Stars in a match played at KMC Complex. Among those present in the stadium to witness the game was Kaizer Chiefs head coach, Nasreddine Nabi.
It is reported that Nabi was highly impressed with Mukwala's abilities, and since then, efforts to sign him have begun.
According to sources close to the player, Mukwala has already reached a personal agreement with Kaizer Chiefs. However, the deal has currently hit a snag after Simba SC’s Honorary President, billionaire Mohammed Dewji ‘Mo’, halted all transfer processes until the end of the season.
Mukwala has scored 12 goals in the NBC Premier League this season and provided 3 assists, also attracting interest from other clubs outside South Africa, including RS Berkane of Morocco, who have placed an offer of approximately Tsh 800 million on the table.
Although Simba has suspended any transfer discussions for now, there are clear signs that if a good offer is presented, the Ugandan striker could be allowed to leave. The club is already in the market searching for a new striker, indicating that they may be willing to release some of their top talents who have drawn attention from football powerhouses.
For now, Kaizer Chiefs seem to be captivated by Simba's talents, and their repeated attempts to sign its stars are a clear indication that Simba is now being viewed with special admiration.
