Despite being linked with clubs like Raja Casablanca, Orlando Pirates, and Al Hilal, Simba Head Coach Fadlu Davids is expected to extend his contract to continue serving Simba.
Simba's Honorary President and billionaire investor Mohammed Dewji 'Mo' is pleased with the impressive work done by Fadlu and his technical team overall.
Sources within Simba Sports Club indicate that Mo has held discussions with Fadlu, and an agreement to extend his contract has been reached.
At the start of the season, Fadlu was tasked with rebuilding Simba, which signed approximately 17 new players. The success the club has achieved — reaching the final of the CAF Confederation Cup and remaining in contention for the league title this season — has exceeded expectations.
Although Simba missed out on both the Confederation Cup and the FA Cup, the billionaire has been impressed with the short-term achievements, especially given the presence of many new players who are not only new to Simba but also inexperienced in international competitions at this level.
"Fadlu's contract ends at the close of this season. A team like Raja Casablanca had already spoken to him and wanted to bring him back home as head coach. But his talks with Mo have changed the situation — he will now extend his contract to continue with his project," said a source.
The Pirates, where he previously served as assistant coach, also inquired about him after the departure of their head coach Jose Riveiro, who joined Al Ahly.
Florent Ibenge is also expected to part ways with Al Hilal at the end of the season, and the billionaires who own the Mauritanian Premier League-winning team have listed Fadlu among the coaches they are interested in.
