Simba SC defender Che Malone Fondoh has found himself in a difficult position with the club's management regarding plans to extend his contract.
Simba had already initiated the process to renew the contract of the Cameroonian defender, whose current deal is set to expire at the end of the season.
However, since returning from an injury that sidelined him for over six weeks, Che Malone has been struggling to regain his top form.
In the last two matches against Singida Black Stars, Malone appeared to make several costly mistakes—especially in the CRDB Cup semifinal, where Simba suffered a 3-1 defeat, leading to their elimination from the competition.
Reports indicate that Simba SC executives are reassessing whether to extend Che Malone’s contract or head back to the transfer market in search of another defender to strengthen that position.
Before his injury, Che Malone was a key figure in Simba’s defensive line this season, though he had some games—particularly in the CAF Confederation Cup—where his errors proved costly. Nevertheless, Simba still managed to progress all the way to the final.
It is clear that the injury sustained in the match against Azam FC, which kept him out for over six weeks, has had a significant impact, as he has not yet returned to 100% match fitness.
