As things stand, Simba has reached 72 points, just one point behind leaders Yanga, making the title race incredibly intense and thrilling as we approach the climax of this NBC Premier League season.
Reports from various sources suggest that Singida Black Stars were “prepared” to try and stop Simba, seemingly as part of a "favor" to their allies, Yanga.
There was hope among some that if Simba lost this match, the rescheduled Match No. 184 set for June 15 between Yanga and Simba wouldn’t carry much weight, and Yanga would then be able to decide more freely whether or not to show up.
Singida Black Stars were invited to train at Avic Town and even played a friendly match in preparation for the clash against Simba. However, their hopes were dashed within 90 minutes as Mukwala found the back of the net and Simba held firm to protect that lead until the final whistle.
With that win, the Kariakoo Derby on June 15 no longer has any room for doubt or interpretation. And as things stand, Yanga has nowhere to hide.
There’s only one path: come to the pitch and let the 90 minutes decide who takes the title this season. If they choose not to show up, the rules will take their course.
