Simba SC has safely arrived in Zanzibar, ready for the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final against Morocco’s RS Berkane, set to be played on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the New Amaan Complex Stadium.
Simba is chasing history, aiming to clinch their first-ever CAF Confederation Cup title, despite losing the first leg held on May 17 in Morocco by 2-0. Mathematically, the “Msimbazi Giants” need a 3-0 win to lift the trophy outright or a 2-0 victory to force the match into a penalty shootout.
Veteran defender Shomari Kapombe, who started in the first leg, said that although they failed to get a favorable result away, the players are fully prepared to fight for a big win at home.
"It’s true we didn’t get a good result away, but we are ready for the second leg here in Zanzibar. The most important thing is that we, as players, are well-prepared and we will fight to secure a big win — it is possible," said Kapombe upon arrival in Zanzibar.
This season’s CAF Confederation Cup will officially conclude after this match, with a trophy and medal presentation ceremony expected to take place on the pitch immediately after the final whistle.
Senior officials from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) will be present in Zanzibar to witness the match and later lead the award ceremony for the winners and runners-up.
