Earlier today, social media was awash with a letter claiming that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) had decided to move the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final between Simba SC and RS Berkane back to the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
However, CAF has come forward and strongly refuted those claims, confirming that the letter is fake. Inside sources from CAF have revealed that preparations for the match, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 25, are ongoing at the New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar.
Earlier today, CAF officials were seen inspecting the stadium and beginning preliminary preparations, including the installation of advertising banners for the final, further clearing up any confusion surrounding the venue.
On the Simba SC side, through the club’s official Instagram page, the Head of Information and Communication, Ahmed Ally, called on fans to remain calm, assuring them that "The Lion will roar anywhere."
Simba is expected to issue an official statement regarding the preparations for the match in Zanzibar, including strategies to overturn the result against RS Berkane after losing the first leg in Morocco.
As of now, it is clear that there will be no change of venue, and the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final will proceed as scheduled – Zanzibar, at the New Amaan Complex.
