The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Pierre Ghislain Atcho from Gabon to officiate the first leg of the Confederation Cup final between hosts RS Berkane of Morocco and Simba from Tanzania.
Simba will begin their campaign to win the biggest trophy in Africa by playing the first leg of the final away from home on May 17 in Morocco, after which they will return to Dar es Salaam for the return leg on May 25 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium with the trophy on the field.
Atcho is best remembered by Simba, as he once refereed the CAF Champions League group stage match, which the Msimbazi team won 2-0 against Wydad Casablanca of Morocco, on December 19, 2023.
Atcho will be assisted by the first assistant referee, Boris Marlaise Ditsoga of Gabon, the second assistant is Eric Ayimavo Ayamr Ulrich of Benin, while the reserve referee on the table will be Patrice Tanguy Mebiame of Gabon.
In terms of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) Technology, the match will be led by Abongile Tom of South Africa, assisted by Maria Pacquiita Cynquela Rivet of Mauritania, while the second assistant is Diana Chikotesha from Zambia.
