With three days left before the CAF Confederation Cup semi-final match between Simba and Stellenbosch of South Africa to be played at the New Amaan Complex Stadium in Zanzibar, the Police Force has warned that fans should adhere to the procedures set out otherwise they will not hesitate to take action against those who violate them.
The force has said that security will be strengthened throughout the pre- and post-match period to ensure the safety of fans who will turn up.
The Acting Police Commander for the Western Urban Region, Abubakar Khamis Ally, said that the force recognizes that the game is a big one and carries the image and honor of Tanzania so they will ensure that security is strengthened in areas inside and outside the stadium.
"Therefore, there will be no room or opportunity for anyone who will commit acts that will bring about a breach of peace in any way... we will ensure that citizens, members, fans and football lovers participate in the game safely and peacefully," said Abubakar.
He said that in addition to the match, on that day, believers of the religion of Christians will be celebrating Easter, which is prompting the army to further improve security in collaboration with other security and safety agencies in the city.
Simba has already landed in Unguja to prepare for the game after the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium was temporarily closed for renovations and improvements
