Simba has returned to Dar es Salaam today from Zanzibar for the first quarter-final match of the African Champions League against Al Ahly of Egypt to be played on Friday this week.
The match will start at 3:00 pm at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium where the technical bench of the team through the assistant coach Seleman Matola has made clear the plans that include chasing the Arabs for the entire 90 minutes of the game.
Matola, who was once captain of Simba, said that Simba is well aware of the importance of starting at home in the championship and they continue to prepare a team that will be fit for the 90 minutes of the game, which they plan to win from two goals onwards.
"The advantage of starting at home is that if you win a lot of goals, you will put more pressure on the opponent in the next match because he is thinking of returning the goals and winning"
"Our goal is to score more than two goals, we are determined not to give Ahly the chance to have the ball at all. We do that practice where when they don't have the ball we don't want them to get it and if they get it then we take it away and attack them with speed and high concentration in all 90 minutes," said Matola
The coach who joins the Algerian head coach Abdelhak Benchikha and his other assistant Farid Zemiti, said they know Al Ahly very well as they have played with them more than three times, so it will be the best way to face them while insisting on wanting the trophy this season.
"We know Al Ahly very well and we have played with them many times. They also know us, so they come to us respecting us, something that will give us the advantage to do better," he said.
"All the players are interested in these matches if they want to make history, we have also been holding meetings with them with the aim of crossing here because it is an area we are already used to"
This will be the fourth time in recent years that the two teams will meet in the CAF championship, as they were drawn twice in the groups of the African Champions League and each won two matches at home and lost away from home and last year they met again in two matches of the new African Football League where both matches ended in a draw where Kwa Mkapa ngoma drew 2-2 and Cairo the match ended 1-1.
