With the squad landing safely in Cotonou, Benin yesterday, Simba head coach Pablo Franco has said they will play a crucial match against Asec Mimosas from Ivory Coast to complete their goals of advancing to the Confederations Cup early.
Pablo said they are planning to take great care because it seems that every team gets stronger when they play at home.
The coach said they are well prepared even though some players are tired of playing too many matches, but that will not stop them from making sure they get a win against Asec Mimosas who will also actually be playing away, as their stadiums are in the process of preparing for the next year's Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2023).
"We have to be careful because I have seen in this tournament every team win at home, if you look at RS Berkane, we have won two matches at home, we are the only one so far to have won at least one point away"
"The goal is to win away to qualify, we will try to do that, but if it fails, then we will qualify in our last match against the US Gendamerie," said Pablo.
Simba Information and Communication Manager Ahmed Ally said they expected the game to be tough because it is Asec Mimosas' last home game, so they would need to win to put themselves in a position to move forward.
"It seems that the team is more dangerous when they play on their statdium because they have won both matches, but we wants to win away, this time we want to qualify for the quarter finals in the away field, "said Ahmed
